Inauguration Ceremony

The inauguration of the Annual Academic Sessions of the Sri Lanka College of Pulmonologists (RESPIRE 2024) took place on February 18th, followed by two days of academic sessions on the 19th and 20th, featuring a diverse lineup of both local and international experts in the field.

The inauguration ceremony, overseen by College President Dr. Bodhika Samarasekara, commenced on February 18th at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo. This event was followed by a captivating cultural program celebrating the rich heritage of Sri Lanka.

Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, the Minister of Health, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with the Guests of Honor, Dr. Vijai Kumar, Vice President of the Indian Chest Society, and Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Secretary of Health, emphasizing cross-border collaboration.

Distinguished orator Professor Athol Wells delivered the prestigious C.G Uragoda Oration, shedding light on key advancements and challenges in pulmonology. 

In addition to the academic proceedings, the Annual Academic Sessions of the Sri Lanka College of Pulmonologists (RESPIRE) 2024 also featured an All-Island Art Competition. This competition, divided into junior and senior categories, aimed to foster creativity and artistic expression among participants.

During the event, the winners of the art competition were announced and rewarded with prizes, ensuring representation from the entire country and celebrating talent from all corners of Sri Lanka.

With these exciting developments, the Annual Academic Sessions of RESPIRE 2024 promise to be a platform for exchange, innovation, and progress in the field of pulmonology.
